Standard Vanguard Transporter Project
IK Classics & Racing recently bought a Vanguard phase II saloon with the intention to convert it into a replica of the Mike Anthony's transporter of the 1950's 60's. The vehicle is being constructed to carry our phase 1 race car.
Over the next few months we will be updating the photos and running a report on what is being done, so please keep dropping in to catch upon the project.
January 2009
As you can see from the image gallery we have cut off the rear of the body in order to fabricate the cab back using the rear window from the car.
The revealed chassis appears to be in sound condition which will help when it comes to extending it to the required length.
Febuary 2009
As the project progresses we think that the chassis would benifit from being converted into a six wheeler with twin rear axles so plans are being drawn up to bring this into reality.
Martin Brown and Nick of Demand, Huddersfield have been brilliant in helping to fabricate the rear window onto the cut off cab section. Martin is an avide Ratrod enthusiast and has donated Nicks time in exchange for some steering gear for one of his vehicles. Demand is a charity that produces one off items, unavailable off the shelf, for the disabled comunity to help individuals or groups overcome or help with their difficulties. IK Classics are looking at ways of helping the charity either with technical skills or with help in fund raising.
